Guang Fu New Village was established in 1956 and originally served as housing for employees and their families of the provincial government's education department, sanitary agency, and print factory. The village boasts comprehensive public utilities including schools, parks, and markets. The environment is serene, with organized streets. The village features the very first underground sewage system that separates rainwater and wastewater. It holds a special place in Taiwan’s architectural and urban history
Following the 921 earthquake and provincial government reorganization, the majority of residents relocated elsewhere. In 2012, it was designated as a cultural heritage site. In order to revitalize Guang Fu New Village, the Taichung government renovated part of the housing and established the "Star-Picking Youth, Dream-Building Taichung" Guang Fu New Village Startup Hub in 2015. The hub provides 73 startup spaces, making it the largest incubation base for the Startup Project. Through this base, the Department of Labor offers entrepreneurial incentives, rent reductions, operational guidance, and other startup services, attracting tenants primarily in visual arts, cultural creativity, and dining. This initiative breathes new life into Guang Fu New Village, revitalizing it through idealistic young entrepreneurs and inviting everyone to explore its historical footsteps once again.

Google MapThe historical architecture “Lin Mao-yang’s Former Home” located in Beitun District, Taichung, serves as the cornerstone of the Lin and Lai families' marriage. Built in the 1920s. encompasses four distinct architectural styles: traditional Sanheyuan, Japanese modern Western-style architectural style, Japanese wooden residences and military dependents’ village housing. This architectural complex portrays the societal landscapes of different eras, preserving traces and stories from each period. It was officially designated as a historic building on July 13, 2007. In 2021, the Cultural Heritage Department of Taichung City formally entrusted Cultural Style International Co., Ltd. with its operation under a public-private partnership agreement.
