"Spirit New Orleans Jazz Band" is Taiwan's first New Orleans brass band, a small ensemble that evolved from military bands. It gained popularity in New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz, and has over a century of history, blending and incorporating various cultures and musical styles to play the most essential part of jazz: the "soul."

Jazz music, born from the history and hardships of African American slaves in the U.S., has a core essence inseparable from the concept of soul.
