Tzu-Yu “Fish” Huang, Teriver Cheung and Chok Kerong are three influential musicians in the Chinese-speaking world. They have been invited to work with musicians including Eddie Gomez, Kendrick Scott, Mark Ferber, Dayna Stephens, Sam Minaie, Alex Spiagin, and international pop stars such as Andy Lau, Sky Wu, Coco Lee, Karen Mok, Tia Yuan and Charlie Lim. 2024 marks the tenth year since they got together and formed the band THE BEAT BROTHERS. The Taichung Jazz Festival will be the first stop of their 10th anniversary tour, and it is bound to be an extravagant feast for lovers of jazz.

THE BEAT BROTHERS redefines traditional expectations of jazz with their unique and creative compositions. With this minimalistic lineup, the three work together to create a maximum of possibilities with music. Their sound stems from their solid foundation in jazz infused with modern hip-hop elements and their respective understanding of music. This collision results in a new musical style that extends beyond traditional definitions of jazz. This October, THE BEAT BROTHERS not only presents brand new compositions, but also expands their lineup to include the amazing Singaporean flautist— Rit Xu, as well as Taiwanese jazz vocalist Suzanne Jen. With this new formation, they seek to enrich the arrangements through added layers of texture. Besides the two guest musicians, they have also invited the celebrated bassist Takashi Sugawa to join them for this performance. We believe that with our fresh and revamped sound, we can deliver a BEAT BROTHERS experience that is completely different from what you’ve heard before.
