Feng-Liang Hua

“Feng-Liang Hua” is a play on words that combines the names of two of Taiwan’s top drummers, Rich Huang (Huang Ruei-Feng) and Doris Lin (Lin Guan-Liang). Undoubtedly, this will be an exciting dual-drummer performance. This year, Taiwan's drum king Huang Ruei-Feng has especially invited singer Wu Si-Ai and renowned pianist Hong Yun-Hui to reinterpret famous Taiwanese and Mandarin songs written decades ago, incorporating jazz elements into the arrangements. This allows the audience to have a broader imagination of jazz music. Through new arrangements for wind instruments, the group will explore diverse musical styles of jazz, refining its depth and creating more possibilities for jazz in Taiwan. We look forward to this refreshing musical combination, weaving together sounds that push the boundaries of contemporary jazz.

USAY KAWLU

An Amis girl born in Hualien, Taiwan, who once participated in "Super Idol" and won the runner-up, also joined Harlem Yu's team in "The Voice of China," where her singing talent was repeatedly recognized. She has honed her skills for more than ten years in stage plays, musical theater, and various performance stages, making her a prominent all-around indigenous female voice in Taiwan's performing arts circle.

From a little girl who loved to sing in her tribe to an all-around indigenous creative talent on various stages, Wu Si-Ai's mission and voice are like seeds nourished by nutrients. In 2021, she released her first full-length album, "The Girl on the Grape Vine," with works like resilient vines that perfectly blend traditional and popular music. This album earned her a nomination for the "Best Indigenous Language Singer Award" at the 33rd Golden Melody Awards. At the end of 2023, Wu Si-Ai released her second album, "Harateng no Pangcah," starting from the important "feelings" in life, using music to showcase the colorful and vibrant life experiences of the Amis people.

YUN-HUI HUNG

The "Four Hands Playing" album, a collaboration with Huang Yun-Ling, took Taiwan by storm. Subsequently, she released two personal albums, "The Sun Takes a Holiday" and "Together," as well as five "Four Hands Playing" albums. She has composed music for many TV dramas and won the 39th Golden Bell Award for Technical Achievement for her score for Da Ai Drama "Quartet." Passionate about performing, she has arranged and produced records for many singers and participated as a keyboardist in concerts for artists like Jay Chou and Stefanie Sun. In addition, she is a multifaceted musician, working as a music author, performer, arranger, producer, and teacher.

TCH JAZZ BAND

TCH Jazz Band, established in 2022, originated from the well-known saxophone specialty store "TCH Instruments" in Taiwan.

Initially, it was formed by a group of jazz music enthusiasts who hoped to spark new ideas for jazz music during their rehearsals and performances. They aimed to share the melodies fueled by their passion with the audience, and to invigorate the development of jazz music in Taiwan's arts and cultural industry through familiar tunes.

TCH Jazz Band's performance planning focuses on two main directions. The first is interpreting classics by reimagining famous Taiwanese songs in Mandarin and Taiwanese, incorporating jazz elements into the arrangements to expand the audience's imagination of jazz music. The second is original compositions, where new wind arrangements explore various genres within jazz, refining its depth and creating more possibilities for jazz music in Taiwan.

We look forward to this refreshing musical ensemble weaving more contemporary jazz sounds!
