Cheng-Yu Lee, Music Director

Cheng-Yu Lee teaches at the National Taiwan Normal University’s Graduate Institute of Popular Music and the Jazz Studies Graduate Program at Fu Jen Catholic University. He has also served as conductor and music director of the Taipei Jazz Orchestra (2009-), lecturer at the National Theater Concert Hall’s Jazz Camp (2012-), and conductor and program director for the Taichung Youth Jazz Camp (2011-). Additionally, he is the curator of Fu Jen Catholic University’s Big Band Madness (2016-). Under his leadership, the Taipei Jazz Orchestra was recognized as one of Taipei City’s outstanding performing groups in 2019 and 2020, and was selected as a Taiwan Top performing group in 2021.

Lee’s extensive teaching experience has taken him around the world. He is currently the Taiwan representative for Jazz Education Abroad, an American organization dedicated to jazz education overseas. He has been nominated for numerous Golden Melody Awards and Golden Indie Music Awards, and has served as a jury member for the 30th Golden Melody Awards and a member of the National Theater Concert Hall’s advisory committee.
