爵士講座 Lecture

Life gives rise to music, while jazz emerges from the soul.

Many people are familiar with the term “jazz” but do not fully understand its essence. To make jazz more accessible, the 2024 Taichung Jazz Festival will host three engaging and easy-to-understand jazz lectures. These sessions will explore diverse characteristics, styles, and rhythms of jazz through casual, conversational lectures, making it simple for everyone to get acquainted with jazz music. In addition to in-person lectures, the content will be made available online, allowing jazz to transcend spatial limitations and connect more deeply with people’s everyday lives.

With a 20-year history, the Taichung Jazz Festival continues to promote the dynamic spirit of jazz. This year, the jazz lecture series will feature Ms. Meng-Wen Shih, a passionate jazz aficionado and experienced music instructor. She will be joined by five musicians, each bringing their unique expertise in jazz. In three sessions, they will share their insights into jazz, discuss their experiences in learning and creating the music, and perform their original compositions.

Join these jazz musicians to explore the rich and vibrant world of jazz. Let's get into jazz!
